BOV OPERA FESTIVAL

The month of March at the Manoel Theatre is synonymous with the BOV Opera festival. This year The Manoel Theatre presents yet another series of fresh and exciting operas for this annual event.
The Manoel Theatre will stage its own opera production on the 17th and 19th of March, featuring a selection of Malta's best singers and the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Brian Schembri. This will be a double-bill opera night, consisting of 'Aleko' by Rachmaninov and 'Il Cambiale di Matrimonio' by Rossini.
On the 20th March there will be a vocal recital by highly talented young Maltese singers, featuring operatic arias in Sala Isouard. Handel's 'Alcina' will be staged on the 22nd and 24th of March. This opera will be produced and performed by the Weiner Akademie, conducted by Maurice van Lieshout.

Known for his unique style of music, the legendary Gigi D'Agostino is back on our islands thanks to Dynamic Promotions. RONAN KEATING LIVE

Hot on the heels of Tom Jones, Irish superstar Ronan Keating is set to thrill audiences in Malta on April 3 in a live concert organized by NNG Promotions.
Keating kicked off his career with popband Boyzone and then went on to release a steady stream of solo successes. In Malta, he is expected to perform a selection of his recent hits.

VISIT BY POPE BENEDICT XVI

Pope Benedict XVI will make a 2-day apostolic visit to Malta to commemorate 1950 years since St. Paul's shipwreck on the island. This will be the third trip of a Pontiff to Malta, following Pope John Paul II's two trips, in 1990 and 2001.

MALTA INTERNATIONAL FIREWORKS FESTIVAL

The 9th Edition of the Malta International Fireworks Festival will be organised by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism and the Malta Tourism Authority. Grand Harbour will once again provide the perfect setting for this event, which will take place on the 29th and 30th of April 2010.

MALTA VETS RUGBY TOURNAMENT

Above all, vet’s rugby tournaments are all about socialising. But a good game of rugby goes a long way too and the setup here simply provides for a great weekend of events and testing of one’s skills and stamina overall. This will be the 4th year that this particular event is being held and teams from all over Europe are expected to participate. On Friday afternoon it will be time for rugby, following a manager's meeting to set off the weekend. Straight after, there will be the welcome party at the official bar of the tourney. On Saturday & Sunday afternoon there will be the rugby event. Beer & food will obviously be made available at the playing venue. In the evening of the Sunday there is the presentation night finishing off with a party till the early hours of the morning.

VALLETTA GRAND PRIX - HISTORIC & CLASSIC CAR EVENT

The Valletta Grand Prix Foundation is pleased to announce the second Valletta Grand Prix Sprint Event to be held in the Unesco World Heritage City of Valletta during the first week of May 2010. This annual historic classic car event will run along the Valletta ring-road surrounding Malta's capital city.
The Valletta Grand Prix of historic and classic cars is an important element to Malta's calendar of events and to fellow motoring enthusiasts. It is aimed not only in promoting such an event with local aficionados, but also at drawing more tourists to the island and to create a niche market associated with such prestigious European Motor Sport activities.
This year's motoring event shall be attracting over 100 participants of whom some 40 of them will be foreigners for the main two-day street sprint events to be held on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th May.

INTERNATIONAL CLUBS RUGBY TOURNEY

The seniors rugby tournament has joined the calendar for the most popular rugby touring events available in Europe. Year after year it is growing in demand and more teams are flocking in for what is set to become the top rugby event on the islands. The senior rugby tournament is a social event but promotes a good game of rugby too, all in a great atmosphere and in the spirit of heaven's game. Thursday and Friday are free days, where one can choose to do one of the many activities available. On Friday night there is the manager's meeting followed by a welcome gathering for all participating sides at the official bar of the tourney. The qualifying stages of the tournament take place on Saturday. Beer & food will obviously be made available at the playing venue, followed by a great night out in fancy dress. On Sunday the teams will play their respective finals and finish off with a presentation night and a great party in the hub of St Julian’s.
